Cucamelons are tropical plants that require warm conditions to grow well. During late spring or when the night temperature is below 10’C, it’s advisable to use row covers to protect the plants from chilly weather.
When harvesting, pick the fruits when they are approximately the size of a large grape, but still relatively firm to the touch. Be careful not to damage the plants when twisting or cutting the fruits from the vine. It’s important to avoid letting Cucamelons ripen too much on the vine as they can lose their crisp texture.
These plants can grow either on a vertical or horizontal trellis.
